Modelyzr User Manual @SAP Business Technology Platform

In accordance with general compliance guidelines, the numbers shown in this document do not reflect actual live data. Instead, dummy data have been used in the screenshots, which represent an exemplary product portfolio.

Modelyzr consists of a variety of frontends. They are all based on the same data universe but their intended use can differ. Even though there are undoubtedly some overlaps in their capabilities, the frontends were generally designed with different purposes and target audiences in mind. The following chart provides a quick overview of the available assets.

The Campaign Designer is the asset for creating target groups for further processing e.g., exporting them or pushing them towards marketing automation systems.

It lacks certain layers of analytical capabilities (things that are calculated on Group-level, like the Potential), but makes up for it by being the only frontend allowing users to filter and display results on single company level. This includes our Campaignscore, an algorithm which reduces cost of sales by cleansing a target group of irrelevant subsidiaries in hierarchies.

In the Targets tab, users can add all sorts of information and attributes to a target list before processing it.

As the name suggests, this tool lets users search for certain Groups or Companies in Modelyzr:

The search bar can be used for all kinds of search criteria like name, city, or unique identifiers from your CRM or market databases.

Results are displayed in a table below, whose columns can be adapted as well. The Score indicates the relevance of a result for the respective search term.

The Customer Explorer provides a 360-degree overview of a single Group, including all of its subsidiaries, and a global view for those with international branches.

The Customer Explorer is either accessible through the Company Searcher (see chapter 2.2) or when clicking on a Group in the target list views, for example in the Territory Dashboard.

One can find a wide variety of information, from firmographics to revenue and pipeline values to an industry distribution in the Analysis tab. The Explorer tab features a full list of all domestic and non-domestic entities within the Modelyzr data universe and shows extended information on the account.

Interactive Solution View in the Customer Explorer

As usual, the graphs are interactive, and in the instance of the solution view, within the analysis tab, even allow digging deeper into the displayed values on various product hierarchy levels.

One can simply click on a tile to go one level deeper into the product hierarchy and get a more detailed view on the underlying numbers.

The main distinction in the view is between existing customers and new names. For the former, users can look at Footprint (see Figure 5).

For New Names on the other hand, the frontend will suggest a relevant (set of) product(s) to sell first under the name Best Offer (compare Figure 6).

The calculation for this feature is based on the purchase history of the 500 existing customers most similar to the New Name in question.

In other words, it suggests products to start the customer journey with, based on a pattern recognition algorithm that uses the same similarity mapping process as the Potential.

Global View

For more complex Groups, users have the option to navigate between hierarchy levels by clicking on the blue Group ID below the name:

Selecting the top node here will open the global group view:

Its sub-menus are designed to support global account owners by offering an aggregated view on all international branches and related sales activities.

Although the frontends are overall rather intuitive and easy to use, some features and functions warrant a more detailed description, to make them as accessible as possible.
This starts with changing a selection through using filters, which are always located at the top section.

Setting and Modifying Filters in the Header

Filtering allows you to alter your report to show exactly what you would like to research.

The header of the frontend contains selected filtering options, which can be customized.

Some frontends have multiple filter pages with different purposes, for example one could contain everything related to the number of targets, whereas the other influences the calculation of KPIs, as is the case in the Mining Meister.

The KPI Filter page lets you set a filter on relevant KPIs like the Potential or Actuals. Other frontends like the Campaign Designer feature a selection layer on single company level in this place.

Matching a selection with the current request is key for an effective use of Modelyzr. For example, some analyses only want to focus on certain industries and size clusters, while others may take a region-based approach instead. Filters can be used to find the right selection for the user’s purpose.

Hint: You can also enter text directly, for example by typing a country code like ‘AT’ or ‘US’ into the corresponding Dimension or entering a fragment of a word. Both actions will either activate the relevant filter or offer different options in case of ambiguity.

Clicking on the Adapt Filters button (see Figure 15) opens the menu below:

There are two layouts of the filter menu, a List view (see Figure 16) and a Group View (see Figure 17).

Clicking on the button with the window symbol opens a selection menu for the chosen filter:

This menu is once more split up into two different segments, Search and Select (Figure 22), as well as Define Conditions (Figure 23).

Search and Select is the standard option and contains every possible attribute of a Dimension. Users can either scroll or use the search bar at the top to reach the relevant options. Multiple filters can be combined and are connected with a logical or.

However, sometimes an analysis requires a more precise method of filtering, for example entering a range of attributes. To support these needs, you can instead use the tab Define Conditions.

You can Include or Exclude items (for example range of ZIP codes), based on Key (for example ID) or Text (for example Name). For that purpose, you choose between the options:

  • Equal to
  • Between
  • Less than
  • Less than or equal to
  • Greater than
  • Greater than or equal to
  • Not equal to

Hint: Define Conditions also allows for pasting multiple values (ideally keys like IDs or distinct numbers) from an Excel file, provided they are all in the same column and separate tiles. Simply copy them from the source file and paste them into the text field.
