Offering optimal working conditions and contributing to climate protection at the same time: with our new office space, we are doing just that. In order to provide our constantly growing team with the necessary space, we have rented another floor, which is currently being renovated and modernized. In addition to functionality and the well-being of our employees, the focus is on sustainability.
Climate change must be limited in order to preserve our planet as a place worth living on. One starting point for this relates to the use of buildings and the way in which they are constructed. A recent study by analysts Prognos shows that the construction and operation of buildings in Germany is responsible for around 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. Public awareness of this climate protection challenge is high and the need for action has been recognized: According to the Forsa survey, 86 percent of respondents attach great importance to observing environmental protection by using demonstrably ecological building materials.
Climate-friendly renovations are in demand
So what should we do? It goes without saying that environmental aspects should be taken into account in new buildings. However, it is even more sustainable to modernize existing buildings. “We must not only build in a climate-friendly way, but above all renovate in a climate-friendly way,” demands Wolfram Hatz, President of the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw) in Handelsblatt. Clearly, using existing resources to achieve the best possible results is a mindset that also characterizes us.
Ecological renovation will therefore become increasingly important in the future. With the expansion of our office space, we are moving forward and meeting the demand for sustainable renovation. To this end, we are installing various smart components and using products that are as environmentally friendly as possible. The aim is to offer the Modelyzr team an attractive working environment. After all, a pleasant atmosphere makes a decisive contribution to well-being and therefore to better results.
This environment is created through planning and a spatial concept that focuses on the needs of employees. For example, by offering retreats for concentrated individual work as well as open spaces for inspired collaboration. Nowadays, however, environmentally friendly construction is also part of the requirements of modern companies. The concept of sustainability is correspondingly important to our team.
Efficiency in air conditioning and lighting
This is reflected, for example, in the air conditioning of the new office: a lot of energy is lost in conventional offices due to simultaneous ventilation and heating. In the new Modelyzr office, the heating is automatically turned down as soon as a window is opened. This ensures a significant gain in heating efficiency. On the other hand, it was not necessary to install an energy-intensive air conditioning system. This is made possible, among other things, by using wood as a building material instead of metal or plastic. The result is a consistently pleasant temperature despite using less energy and without using harmful coolants for the air conditioning system.
Another example is smart lighting control, which ensures that lamps are only switched on when someone is in the room. Conversely, they go out when no one is there and therefore no lighting is needed. This also saves a lot of energy. Of course, it is still possible to adjust the lighting conditions to suit your own requirements. A small special feature is that no light switch needs to be operated for this. In future, every employee will be able to switch the light on and off or dim it via the web browser at their workstation.
New offices are taking shape – anticipation is growing
In the meantime, the renovation work has already made great progress. It won’t be long before the Modelyzr team can move into the newly modernized office. Slowly but surely, the anticipation and excitement among our employees is growing. After all, a workplace that focuses on the needs of the employees, is equipped with the latest technology and also takes important aspects of climate protection into account, awaits. The time will probably come in April.
