Unique everyday life – half-year review 2020

Since we are currently living in a world in which our everyday life is no longer so ordinary, so “normal” as usual and somehow quite mixed up, it’s nice to write a blog entry that doesn’t talk about something “extraordinary”.

This month it’s time to look back on our everyday office life over the last six months. But again, no two days are the same and you never really know what to expect the next day. And that’s exactly what we love!

The last few weeks, even months, have been characterized by corona measures, corona talks and discussions about current developments. But right from the start, the topic in our office was limited to the most important things concerning our everyday (office) life. We all agreed on that. The current internal measures were discussed once a week. If you had any questions, worries or other concerns, you could of course contact Nils at any time, or simply talk to each other. But it quickly became clear that everyone was enjoying the normality of the work routine, far away from the new pandemic routine.

In line with this attitude, we will end the section for this blog entry, which would not only be inappropriate but also unrealistic, and take a look back.

Four new team members, two Great Place To Work® awards, new office chairs (yes, after six months of discussion, this can also be included in the list of special features 😉 ), the first “State of the Nation” meeting remotely and a few after-work beers in the first hours of sunshine later, it’s clear to see: There’s always something going on here!

The office chairs alone not only triggered a discussion about the various definitions of comfort, but the color also proved to be a particular challenge. It has to be said, in the end everyone is never 100% satisfied, but in the end everyone can laugh about the banality of such topics.

Each new employee has also brought a breath of fresh air to the office. Not only has coffee consumption been boosted, no, as you can read in February’s blog entry, sweets are now officially (no longer secretly) very welcome, the office is now stocked weekly with fresh flowers from the weekly market and our last remaining empty office space is now also occupied.

Where do we go now with our future team growth? … It remains exciting! 😊

Thanks to our two lavish balconies, the equally lavishly equipped office fridge and a very grateful, sociable team, we can also look back on a few after-work beers and hours of sunshine on the balcony. It’s rarely about work here. We quickly forget our gloomy thoughts as we gaze out over the rooftops of Münster, enjoy the bright sunshine (and, depending on how the after-work beer goes, the view of the sunset), think about the next weekend plans, chat about past parties, current podcasts and series and discuss the usefulness of one challenge or another.

Of course, nobody feels attracted to their self-experiment … 😉

My personal conclusion to this short review: This blog entry once again tells of something “extraordinary”. Because having such a special, beautiful, multifaceted and warm everyday working life is something extraordinarily beautiful.
