As in every quarter, our “State of the Nation” meeting should also take place this quarter.
This serves as a review of the previous quarter, the outlook for the following quarter and an overview of the entire annual planning. We also look to the future together and end the day in MODELYZR style with a (small) celebration, which is always lovingly, creatively and differently designed each time.
That’s how it should be this time too, if it weren’t for the coronavirus, which has caused quite a stir this year and is still going strong.
Rescheduling one of our “state of the nation” meetings should be the least of our worries, however, and we wouldn’t be MODELYZR if we hadn’t come up with an alternative plan that was appropriate for the current situation.
Admittedly, the situation has also caused us quite a few headaches. Many questions between “What do we want?”, “What do we have to do?”, “What are we allowed to do?”, “What is right and appropriate?” “How can we give the team a good feeling right now?” and, above all, “What feels right?”.
In the end, the decision was pretty clear. It has to feel right: Sure, we all long for company, to be at ease and to party with friends again. But we find ourselves in an exceptional situation in which completely different values come first, have to come first and secondary needs simply have to take a break for a while. So our conclusion was that it is not an appropriate time to celebrate. It had been clear for a long time that our meeting had to take place remotely and that there would be no other event afterwards this time.
But we wouldn’t be MODELYZR if there wasn’t another BUT. 😉
So we had the great idea of donating the money we had planned for the evening to a good cause.
Of course, deciding which regional organization to support was no easy task either, as there are so many great projects in Münster that are worth supporting and that rely on (financial) support.
In the end, we decided to make a small donation to Kinderkrebshilfe Münster e.V.
The association has been supporting families with children suffering from cancer for more than 35 years in the form of inpatient equipment, medical and psychosocial support services and all of this on an individual basis. Projects such as research funding, family emergency aid and bereavement work are just a few examples of what we want to support with a small donation. A decisive factor in our decision was above all that it was important to us, at a time dominated by a particularly insidious virus, not to lose sight of the emergencies that exist alongside it, which also continue to require our attention.
Finally, one thing should be noted.
We must all remember one thing, perhaps even learn to appreciate it once again: and that is to enjoy and appreciate the supposedly small things in everyday life. In line with this important principle, all colleagues received a small gift. A bottle of gin and a can of tonic for the final after-work beer, in this case FeierabendGIN, to round off the weekend meeting. 😊
